Road trip!

June 15, 2014

We began our day with 30 minutes of extra sleep. We were then on our way for a long road trip, stopping here and there to spot animals. Amazingly, Melissa spotted a black wolf in the distance on her own as the group was oscillating between whether the wolf was a rock, or alive. We then drove through a Lodgepole Pine forest, and stopped in order to get a yoga lesson from Alasdair. Next we walked up the mountain and learned about geology with the help of an activity from Melissa. Once we got back to the car, we had a snowball fight. From there we drove to Canyon and saw the Upper and Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River (which was amazing)! Then we got in the car again, and rode to Canyon Lodge to have a warm lunch and go shopping. After a lot of laughter we left for the Mud Volcano and Dragon’s Mouth thermal features. Afterwards, we stopped and spotted some White Pelicans through the scope. We continued on our way, and then stopped at a new part of the Yellowstone River and watched a group of Harlequin Ducks. We finally ended our long day at a beautiful hotel.
